(In case you’re bored by dialogue, skip to 0:45 for the real meat of the clip.)

OK, look. I was researching Betty White for my next post (don’t laugh, you’ll see why) when I notice that she won an emmy for her appearance as herself on The John Larroquette Show (which I don’t remember either). My interest picqued, I thought I should Netflix the DVD so I could watch the episode in question (not an unprecedented move, as you’ll see), only to find that the show didn’t make it to the home video market. I shouldn’t have been surprised, but there you go. I mean, in a world where even Designing Women only gets a lousy single “best-of” DVD, and we’re supposed to be satisfied with two such discs of Cybill, I shoudn’t expect much. So after some digging on the YouTube I found what’s probably the highlight of the episode. The only backstory one might need know is that the episode is a spoof of Sunset Boulevard: John is writing Betty’s memoirs, and they’re staging this musical and recasting her character as central. It’s still pretty bad, but I’m glad that someone else had the idea for a musical and actually went through with it…….

Now I just need to find some clips of her hosting the game show that won her a Daytime Emmy: “Just Men!”

Stop trying to make Josh Groban happen

Hello world! There’s no better way to start this little b-log than with this gem. Basically I found myself posting lots of facebook notes to share things with the people I love that are now so far away, but I got sick of the whole process. Today, I thought of this totally f-tch domain name, it was totally not taken, and now here we are!

Now, need I remind you that:
a) I love TV
b) I love music
c) I have loved TV music
d) I went to high school with this man (we weren’t chums or anything, but he was there)

That all being said, this video is a complete and utter travesty.

Don’t watch the whole thing, it’s too painful. Let me just walk you through my favorite part:
2:05 – transition from South Park theme to Jeffersons theme. Enter gospel backup singers.
2:23 – Baywatch theme. Gospel singers remain, presumably because Hasselhoff makes them feel safe.
2:35 – Brady Bunch theme. Gospel singers stop swaying, I guess because the Bradys sucked their jive away.
2:42 – Cops theme. Gospel singers exeunt hastily. Wait, what?

I don’t need to spell this out people, that’s beyond awkward and deep into WRONG territory. It’s things like this that make me want to never leave the house or turn on the internet again. Coincidentally, it’s things like this that are also making fetch happen, just a little bit at a time, and that’s why this blog is here. To honor those things that every day work tirelessly to make fetch happen for all of us.
